TRUTH

This is the truth about the Sister Tours. Every year for the past 8 years, except during the pandemic in 2020, my brother Bruce “Buzzie” has visited me from San Francisco for a few days to spend quality time in person with me eating our fave-rave foods, dining in, dining out, talking, laughing, and exploring. As the first stop on Buzzie’s Sister Tour 2023, the weather here in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) included sunshine and mid-70s temperatures - perfect every day for our activities – before he traveled to CT and NYC to visit 2 of our 3 other sisters. I love being the first sister Buzzie visits on the Sister Tour!

The truth is that I absolutely adore my brother Buzzie. I don’t cook often, but I made lasagna with fresh, healthy ingredients especially for him.

He is consistent, generous, kind and reliable. The truth is that I trust him with my life.

Every minute spent with Buzzie is cherished, as time with him is overflowing with laughter, fun, learning and adventure. At my place, we indulged in a movie marathon of The Equalizer 1 and The Equalizer 2 with fresh popcorn, of course. The next day, we had lunch in D.C. at Busboys and Poets with my elementary school classmate Christine Jackson and her cousin Marcia in from Providence doing research at the National Archives. After lunch, Buzzie and I spent the afternoon visiting the Smithsonian Museum of American History, especially to see the Dolby “Entertainment Nation” exhibit, as Buzzie worked at Dolby for 27 years. The exhibit was amazing! It was well worth the total 7+ miles we walked that day (including walks to the Metro)! On the following day, we walked the 3 blocks to the nearby Regal Theater to see The Equalizer 3. Academy Award winner Denzel Washington always delivers! After the movie, we enjoyed authentic shrimp po’ boys for dinner at one of my fave-rave spots, All Set Restaurant and Bar - a delicious way to end the week.

I am thankful for Buzzie’s service in the Navy, and I thoroughly enjoy living vicariously through his numerous travels to nearly every continent in the world. Buzzie is a wonderful gift, indeed a blessing, to have as a brother, and I am deeply grateful to be one of his sisters. That is the truth.

If you are blessed to have brothers and sisters, cherish every minute with them. Tell them how much you appreciate and love them.
