Time: Our Most Precious Commodity

Do you know what time it is? Does anyone really know what time it is? Why do we waste so much time, and act as if time isn’t important, as if it doesn’t matter? If you learned that you only had six months to live, how would you spend the time? Would you wallow in self-pity, or would you contact all family members, friends and colleagues to schedule some quality time with each individual, and/or groups of them? Would you plan a party to celebrate your life, to thoroughly enjoy it now, while you are still alive?

My paternal grandmother used to say, “The very hairs on our head are numbered. Give me my flowers while I am alive so that I can smell them and really enjoy them!” She lived to be 91. On November 27th, my daughter Moriah's grandmother, and my granddaughter Marie’s great-grandmother celebrated 100 years on this earth. That is a lot of time! An understatement! My maternal grandmother was only three months from her 100th birthday when she joined our beloved ancestors. Daddy was 91; Momma Mela was 85. I have no idea how many more years I have ahead, but if those extraordinarily good genes were passed on to me, I certainly will not waste any time enjoying each day, and living this life!

Time is a gift, a blessing. No time to waste. Time is our most precious, most valuable commodity.

Every day, we must respect, honor and cherish our time on this earth.
