Monday, April 8, 2024 was a day of celebration for two important reasons:
1. It was the day of the Total Solar Eclipse
2. It was the 2nd Anniversary of my move from Metro Atlanta to the DMV (D.C. Metro Area)
At noon, I decided to take the Metro downtown to the National Mall where the Smithsonian Museums are strategically placed between the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol Building. I joined thousands of people from around the world who received special protective sunglasses, distributed by volunteers, to witness the extraordinary occurrence of the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse.
Because I don’t completely remember the 2017 solar eclipse experience, this one was an extra special celestial experience! The opportunity to witness such an amazing event was truly other worldly. At the very moment when the solar eclipse occurred, wearing my protective sunglasses, I watched as the moon moved directly in front of the sun and completely blocked it. The sunny, 70+ degree temperature dropped significantly, and it briefly became cloudy, windy and misty. Upon completion, the temps changed back to sunny and hot.
It was truly incredible! What a wonderful way to celebrate being back in the DMV! I will remember the experience and cherish it always.
Celestial wonders never cease. Enjoy them!
